AC Transformer |
| |
Safety is vital when operating electrical items in close proximity to water.
All aquariums need electrical power to operate their lighting and filtration systems and most use mains electricity at 240 or 120 volts. This can cause serious electric shock should the Fishkeeper drop or drench the electrical items in the aquarium water.
The Reef One range of aquariums is designed to be extremely safe and therefore all its electrical items operate at the safe low level of 12 volts ac.
To protect the Fishkeeper and children from electric shock Reef One aquariums use a plug top AC transformer that plugs into your electrical mains socket and ‘steps down' the mains voltage to a much safer 12 volts ac. The 12 volts is made available in the bottom of the AC transformer through two din sockets (see image). Either socket can be used for the halogen light wire plug or the air pump wire plug as both sockets are interchangeable. The LED light if used in place of the halogen light can be plugged into either socket.
Special Note : The AC transformer is capable of handling a maximum of 20 watts power and incorporates a non replaceable safety fuse that will blow, permanently damaging the AC transformer, if a halogen bulb of greater than 20 watts is used to replace the 10 watt bulb supplied with the light.

Safe 12 Volt Air Pump |
| |
The low voltage, safe air pump provides the bubble supply that powers the filter system and assists with oxygen diffusion in the aquarium. It is essential the air pump is left running permanently.
Reef One biUbe and biOrb aquariums incorporate two one way valves to prevent water draining back down the air line; however, it is safer to place the air pump above the level of the aquarium water line.
The air pump is designed to run as silently as possible but due to its pumping action internal vibration will be transmitted as noise if the air pump body touches surrounding objects.
As the air pump is essential to maintain water quality and runs continuously 24 hours a day, it is advisable to keep a spare in the event of failure.
Air pumps are available in 12Volt 50 Hz and 12 volt 60 Hz versions.

Bi-Orb Swap Tops |
Bored with the colour of your biOrb? Doesn’t match your new colour scheme? Wouldn’t it be better if the lid and base were a different colour? |
Lid and base sets called Swap Tops are available in all eight colours so you can change the look of your biOrb whenever you want.
| |
| |
Bi-Orb Light Unit |
The low voltage light unit illuminates the biOrb and it’s inhabitants, making the aquarium into even more of a feature. Designed as a easy-to-fit accessory, the light unit doesn’t impose on the biOrb’s attractive shape an incorporates a hole for easy fish feeding. |
| |
The white light simulates daylight, which assists with plant growth and brings out the true colours of the fish.
With the anti-glare shield removed (see instructions) the biOrb is transformed into a living table lamp. |
Light Bulb |
The 10 watt halogen bulb in the biOrb light unit should last for around 1200 hours. We recommend leaving the light on for 6-7 hours a day. |
| |
The biOrb bulb must be replaced with the correct Reef One 10 watt 12 volt bulb. Larger bulbs may kill the transformer and could have an adverse effect on the light unit and biOrb. |

Heater Pack |
With the aid of the heater pack the aquarium can then house small tropical fish. The heater pack contains a 50 watt heater, stand and aquarium thermometer.
| |
Heater Stand |
An aquarium heater can be accommodated with the aid of the Reef One heater stand. The aquarium can then house small tropical fish. |
| |
The acrylic stand fixes to the inside of the biOrb to provide a flat surface onto which a 50 watt heater can be fixed. Although designed for use in the biOrb, the heater stand can be used in most aquariums if desired.
A snap out section in the biOrb light unit provides a gap into which the lead from the heater can rest, keeping the lead tidy whilst allowing the light unit to remain snugly fitted in the top.
The heater stand can be purchased singly or in a Heater Pack. The heater pack also contains a 50 watt heater and aquarium thermometer. |

Bubble Tube Guard |
Some fish like to try a squeeze themselves into the most unlikely places. Just in case one of your fish enjoys this behaviour we have made a top for the bubble tube; which prevents fish from getting in whilst still allowing bubbles to get out.
Please obtain good advice when purchasing fish. The ceramic media used in Reef One aquarium does not provide a suitable substrate for the majority of catfish and bottom feeding species. |

Service Kit |
The filter cartridge works like a waste bin, trapping dirt, once full it should be thrown away and replaced with a new one. This should be done every 1-2 months. |
| |
A partial water change of 30% should be carried out at the same time.
Contents:
Replacement filter cartridge
Algae cleaning cloth
Sachet of water preparation chemicals. |
| |
Ceramic Media |
Extra ceramic media can be added to your Reef One aquarium. This will increase the area available for biological filtration and makes it easier to anchor plants into position.
The ceramic media should not need to be replaced, but if you wish to change the media you should do so gradually, in stages, and not all at once. Changing the media gradually allows the existing filter bacteria to move across and colonise the new media from the old. |

Cleaner Pump |
How do you get water out of the aquarium? - with our clever cleaner pump. This powerful cleaner pump is simple for everyone to use, you do not need super human strength or four arms to get it working!
The cleaner pump makes partial water changes easy and effective with minimum effort. A couple of squeezes on the hand pump is all that is needed to get the pump working. Whilst emptying water from the aquarium the cleaner pump will also suck up dirt and debris from the bottom.
The cleaner pump can also be used to pump water back into the aquarium, eliminating the need to struggle with heavy buckets of water. |
| |
Cleaning Pads |
Use our special cleaning cloths to effectively remove algae without scratching. Available in packs of three these special cleaning cloths have a smooth side for regular cleaning and a rough side for really tough algae marks. |
| |
The rough side can also be used to remove lime scale build up from the base of the light unit.
Cleaning pads should only be used on the inside of the aquarium.
Reef One do not recommend using other algae pads on the biOrb as these may scratch the acrylic. |

Air Stones |
The air stone at the base of the aquarium breaks up the flow of air into the aquarium into a mass of bubbles. |
| |
After a time the air stone can become blocked by calcification, especially in hard water areas, reducing the flow of air into the aquarium.
Replacing the air stone every few months will keep your aquarium bubbling away nicely. |
| |
One Way Valve |
At least every 6 months a check should be made by disconnecting the air pump and lowering the air line below the water line. |
| |
In the unlikely event of leakage a one way valve can be fitted to the air line. This should be fitted six inches from the air pump.
If you wish to extend the length of the air line from your aquarium it is advisable to do so with a one way valve. |
