FEEDING GUIDE FOR ADULT DOGS
The aim of this fact sheet is to explain the importance of feeding a nutritionally balanced and natural diet to your dog avoiding the unnecessary and sometimes harmful additives present in many of today’s pet foods.
In recent years Veterinary Surgeons have reported a general deterioration in pet health. At Naturediet we believe the over processing and chemical additives used within pet foods has been a major contributing factor in this deterioration. There are currently in excess of 150 chemical compounds (E numbers) approved and currently used in the manufacture of British pet foods, often used to simply increase profits.

Feeding your Dog

Maintenance, Choosing the Right Food for your Dog
Dogs said to be in the Maintenance State are the majority of dogs with the exception of the Special Needs dogs listed below.
Choosing the variety of food to feed your dog is of course a personal choice, although it will have something to do with your dog’s preferences. All Naturediet products are completely free from chemical additives, thus you can be sure of feeding a healthy balanced nutritious meal your dog will love.
Special Needs
Pregnancy/Lactation
Bitches require additional nutrients during the last four weeks of pregnancy, as the unborn puppies will be growing rapidly. The amount of food needs to be increased by 25-50%. No special food is usually necessary; however, the bitch will need her extra food given in small meals rather than one large meal as the growing litter will often restrict the capacity of the bitch’s stomach. If the bitch is having difficulties in indulging the increased quantity of food, then a more concentrated form of food will need to be fed. Naturediet Puppy is ideal in this situation as it is nutritionally balanced with a higher concentration of nutrients. During lactation the bitch’s requirement can increase by three times her normal maintenance levels depending on the size of her litter.
Working Dogs
A working dog is a dog such as a police dog, sheep dog, gun dog, or sled dog that is out all day will use up far more calories than the average pet dog. Therefore, their energy requirements are much higher. To provide this energy you will need to increase on the amount of calories or food, which they require for normal maintenance. Older Less Active Dogs
Naturediet Senior Gold has been specifically developed for the older dog who may be showing signs of arthritic conditions. It contains chicken and tripe with brown rice, carrots and potatoes with the addition of herbs that are known to ease stiff joints.
The energy requirements as your dog grows older can decrease by 30-40%. Therefore, a lower calorie diet to prevent obesity may be recommended. Naturediet Lite is ideal for the older dog prone to weight gain with its heightened fibre content and reduced protein levels.
Dogs with Sensitivity Problems
Naturediet Sensitive Gold has been specifically developed for dogs that may be showing signs of being ‘sensitive to food’. The symptoms may include, ear problems, skin problems, digestive problems or even a combination of the three. One of the problems we have today with feeding our pets is that any food when it is processed destroys some of the enzymes in the meat. Not all dogs are able to reproduce these enzymes and thus any food they eat may not be digested properly. This problem may also mean that the dog does not have sufficient ‘good bacteria’ in their gut. Naturezyme, is a powder which can be sprinkled on top of the food.

A menu specifically developed for those unfortunate dogs whose digestive systems struggle with most commercial pet foods. Containing white ocean fish, tripe, brown rice, carrots and potato, this menu also contains herbs; cleavers, dandelion, nettles, garlic, golden rod and sage that can soothe digestion and alleviate skin conditions. 130kcal/100g.
Naturezyme
Digestive enzymes breakdown the nutrients for the body and are naturally produced by the Pancreas, though in limited amounts. Supplementing the diet with these enzymes can reduce the risk of non-recognition of proteins, relieving the severity of adverse reactions and allowing for further digestives processes.
