Unpack and position the biOrb.

Carefully remove all packaging. Place biOrb on a strong and level surface (it weights 30kg full). Avoid locations where the bowl could be knocked over.

Remember the biOrb needs a power socket within reach (follow instructions supplied with the air pump).

Dont place biOrb in direct sunlight such as on a windowsill.

biOrb is an aquarium, water may besplashed or spilt, therefore:

Don't position the biOrb on or above items that are

Ensure biOrb is located close to an electrical socket.

Do not plug in until set up procedure completed.

Remove transit tape from Bubble Tube lid.

Your first Filter cartridge is already fitted.

The filter cartridge should be changed every 1-2 months.

New filter cartridges are supplied with in the Service Kit (purchased separately).

To replace: twist and lift bubble tube out of the biOrb. Detach bubble tube from old filter cartridge.

Offer up new filter cartridge to bubble tube and twist in the direction of the arrow ensuring all four cartridge tans are fully locked (A).

Twist until cartridge is captive in base i.e. cannot be pulled upwards (B).

Filling and activating

Tip the Ceramic Media from it's plastic bag into a sieve and rinse thoroughly over a sink (C). This removes dust particles created during transit.

Discard any particles smaller than a pea.

Place the Ceramic Media by hand (D) around the Filter Base  being careful not to allow any to lay on top of the bubble tube lid.

Don' tip the ceramic media in or out of the biOrb as it will produce scratching. Always remove by hand.

Use only ceramic media provided by REEF ONE

Add the water slowly (E).

For best results only fill the bowl to about 2 inches above the central bubble tube.

Empty the sachet of Water Treatment into the water.

Plug the air pump into the power point and switch on power.

Always use a residual current breaker with aquarium products (not provided).

Note: The pump should be left running 24hrs a day.

Wait for about one hour before emptying sachet of Stress Zyme in to the biOrb.

Your biOrb is now activated.

Bubbles and dust forming on the inside of the bowl during the first 24hrs in normal and can be removed by gently brushing with fingertips.

Wait 24hrs before adding your first fish.

Servicing

Every 1-2 months a Reef One SERVICE KIT will be required to maintain the water in prime condition. Replacement of the dirty filter cartridge and a 30% partial water change is essential to reduce nitrate and phosphate pollution in the water. The SERVICE KIT, available separately, contains a filter cartridge, water chemicals, cleaning pad and instructions. A Reef One CLEANER PUMP is available which provides a convenient way to remove debris and siphon out the water. Never remove the ceramic media after the biOrb has matured.

Every 24 weeks check that the one way valves are working correctly.
Disconnect the airline tube from the air pump and lower the airline to a level below the biOrb water line. If water leaks into the airline wither the replace the one way valve in the biOrb base or fit an additional one way valve in the airline 6 inches from the air pump.

Air pumps will wear out and become noisy due to continuous operation. It is vital that they are replaced immediately after failure to avoid water quality problems.

The air stone, in the base of the biOrb, will become blocked after a time by calcification. The flow of bubbles into the biOrb will be reduced and the air stone should be replaced.

Green water is caused by harmless algae, which occurs naturally in healthy aquariums. If your aquarium water quickly turns green it is most likely caused by too much sunlight, overfeeding, too many fish or high levels of nitrate and phosphate in tap water.

Cleaning the biOrb requires care to prevent scratching. NEVER USE HOUSEHOLD DETERGENTS, polishes or scouring pads. Reef-One cleaning pads are available. The external acrylic surface can be polished using a proprietary SOLVENT FREE furniture polish, which should be applied with a soft, clean cloth and not sprayed directly onto the biOrb.
