Why choose Verm-X for Horses?
The development of Verm-X was started by contacting the Association of Medicinal Herbalists and requesting the name of the person who was the best in this field - this led to our association with the then President of the Association Trudy Norris. Trudy ia a world renowned and highly respected herbal practitioner and we asked her to create the formulation for Verm-X based on her expert understanding of herbs. Trudy, along with many herbalists, has been using herbs for a long time for repelling parasites in humans, it was therefore a natural progression for her to develop a safe and effective blend for animals.
The herbs included in Verm-X have been carefully blended together to work synergistically with each other. Independent trials have proven that the herbal blend works (i.e. repels parasites). There have also been several reports from horse owners that their horses looked ‘extremely well’ following feeding on Verm-X. Jenny Franklin from Chapel en le Frith in Derbyshire wrote in to say: “What an amazing difference in Sam (her horse), his coat became so silky, very large dapples have appeared on his rump, and his belly has become a nice barrel shape”.
Philip Ghazala of Verm-X acknowledges that there is a place for Verm-X in today’s equine healthcare management. “We have found that Verm-X has been adopted by horse owners for many different reasons. Some people for example David Morley, Chairman of Pony Welfare at Hurlingham Polo Association, uses the gentle action of Verm-X for peak competition season; other people have bought Verm-X because they keep their horses on organic farms where they are simply not allowed to use chemicals. Another group of people are fans of Verm-X because they refuse to use chemicals. It is not unusual for us to receive calls from horse owners who haven’t put chemicals into their horses, for 3, 4 or 5 years and are delighted that an effective herbal alternative has been made available.”
Another key reason for horse owners to consider Verm-X is because it has a gentler action and doesn’t disrupt the existing essential flora in your horse’s gut.
Herbs have a very important place in the market for all species. They have earned that place by being used by many civilisations effectively over the centuries. It is therefore right that the consumer should have a natural alternative in today’s man-made world if they so wish.
FAQ's about Verm-X
Commonly asked questions with their answers:
Q. What is Verm-X?
A. Verm-X is a natural solution for repelling internal parasites made up of a blend of herbs, formulations available for horses (powder or liquid), poultry (liquid), dogs (daily treats or monthly liquid) and for cats (daily treats).
Q. What herbs are in Verm-X?
A. Herbs found in Verm-X include: Cinnamomum Zeldicum (Cinnamon), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint), Thymus Vulgaris (Common Thyme), Galium Aperine (Cleaver), Capsicum Minimum (Cayenne).
Q. How do we know Verm-X works?
A. When deriving the formulation of Verm-X, the required properties of each herb were identified. Inclusion of each of the herbs is based on their historical use, through research and the actions observed in both humans and animals. Trudy Norris, Former President of the Association of Medical Herbalists, composed the blend of herbs. The herbs are chosen for their ability in repelling internal parasites additionally Verm-X includes herbs that act as blood cleaners and those that enhance the general well being of the animals. The formulation will also support the health of the digestive system which will impact directly on the animal’s health, well being and ‘performance’. All the herbs chosen in the blend are compatible and synergistic (means work together) with one another.
Successful trials at Plumpton College, West Sussex have been carried out on its action as repellent of internal parasites. There is also a fast growing amount of anecdotal evidence which shows that animals fed Verm-X look extremely well and their coats gleam and the horse appears ‘brighter’.
Due to the proven ability of Verm-X to replace chemicals the British Government awarded Verm-X with an industry award for environmental best practice in November 2004.
Q. Can I use Verm-X along with a conventional worming routine?
A. Different people have different worming routines, some worming 6 times per year to others who worm 'when they remember' - in either instance Verm-X may be used. If you worm your animals regularly Verm-X may be incorporated as part of that routine, maybe every other worming occasion for example. Many use only Verm-X at the recommended programmes throughout the year and do not use chemicals. However for Verm-X to remain effective regular worming as per the recommendations for each formulation is necessary.
